Citroen Ami One: the 2 CV reinvented

Citroen has lifted the veil on its concept of electric microvolume without a license for urban use whose popular spirit claims the mythical 2 CV.

What could the 2 CV look like in the era of the electric car and mobility that wants to be more virtuous? A bold exercise in which Citroën has delivered and which has led to the Ami One Concept. As the name suggests, this is a concept car that will be exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show next month. To introduce the Ami One, Citroën does not speak of an electric car but of an "  object of urban mobility  ".

Beyond this very trendy speech, it is indeed a microcar two-seater electric measuring 2.50 m long, 1.50 m wide and 1.50 high for 425 kg. Driving without a license from the age of 16, the Ami One Concept can travel at 45 km / h, has a range of 100 km and can be recharged in two hours. Its design, very basic, hides a deep reflection on the simplicity of design that is not unlike that of the good old "Deudeuche".

Symmetrical design

The Friend One Concept is totally symmetrical. Most of its body parts are identical and simply mounted in a different direction. This is so the doors, antagonist driver's side and passenger side vector, wings, underbody, the bumper, mirror, the front, and rear lights. The key is faster assembly, less expensive and easier maintenance. The result is a cubic style meant to evoke robustness and maneuverability for urban driving.

Citroën has thought of different models of consumption for the Ami One ranging from the use of 5 minutes to 5 hours. It can be done through a car-sharing service, from 5 days to 5 months for short- term rental systems, or 5 years through a long-term rental that will include the battery, maintenance, and parking. The chevron brand even goes so far as to consider an Ami One ATM that would provide the information and allow the electric car to be rented directly. For the moment, Citroën has not indicated a timetable for the possible commercialization of a derivative of this concept.
