The Galaxy Fold Samsung first collapsible smartphone

Before unveiling its Galaxy S10 range, Samsung introduced its long-awaited Galaxy Fold. The mobile unfolds like a book and offers the dimensions of a small tablet. In addition to the technological novelty, the mobile is a power monster.

After months of intrigue and years of rumors, Samsung has finally unveiled its famous foldable smartphone. It should be recalled that the Korean had been doubled in early January by Royale with his FlexPai and Xiaomi with its Infinity Flex Display, but today Samsung has set the stage by devoting much of its conference for the presentation of the Galaxy Fold. A timely conference to get ahead of competitors who should unveil their own foldable mobiles from the first day of the  Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Folded, the Galaxy Fold has a small screen of 4.6 inches. The smartphone is thick and uncomfortable at first. When unfolded, like a book you open, it's a screen with almost no 7.3-inch borders and a 21: 9 aspect ratio. A diagonal that is similar to that of an iPad Mini. The flexible slab is based on the new Dynamic Amoled technology that is also found on the new Galaxy S10. It delivers a better color rendering and accentuates the contrasts. Once deployed, it is possible to display up to three applications side by side. At the conference, Samsung explained that engineers have spent a lot of time tweaking the hinge of the mobile so that the unfolding is safe. It must be said that on this point the model presented by Royale left doubtful.

Higher than the very high end

In addition to the originality of the folding screen, the mobile should be talented in a photo. It has three modules with an ultra-wide angle of 16 megapixels, a wide angle of 12 megapixels and finally a zoom of 12 megapixels. For selfies, it has a 10-megapixel module. That's not all, when it is deployed there are two other sensors of 9 and 10 pixels that are on the screen in tablet mode. Inside, Samsung has opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, the most powerful of the moment. It is accompanied by 12 GB of RAM, an unprecedented quantity while OnePlus was already offering a version of its  OnePlus 6Thas 10 GB of RAM. It remains to be seen if this memory is really exploited, or if it is to make stronger than the others. At the storage level, Samsung is also in excess with 512 GB capacity.

Autonomy issue, hard to say if the battery of 4.380 mAh fast charge will hold the road, especially if the smartphone is used a lot in tablet mode. The Galaxy Fold should be marketed in France in the second half of this year. The price of innovation: 2,000 euros! It remains to be seen if such a mobile will correspond to real use ...
